I haven't written in so long. I still struggle with this blog. I need it to be about writing and the struggle of writing. Well, I now have a project. My "Vacation on Mars" story was stalling and I needed some inspiration. My neighbor asked for a ride to the bank and we went off with her little girl. Destiny is 6 years old and quite precocious. I told her about my story of a little girl who wins a contest to take the first ride on the vacation to Mars contest put on by Walter World. I told her I was not 6 years old and I tried to be, but I had some trouble.
She agreed that I wasn't and was quite eager to help me by writing up a letter for the contest in my story. I worried she would think it was "real" but she assured me she understood and she could write what a 6 year old would write. Her mother was quite enthusiastic, so we agreed she would write the letter as an activity that day. Yesterday she showed up at my door, with her mother, letter in hand. It is exactly what I wanted, something that I struggled to write, full of misspelling and printing slanting this way and that but full of earnest desire. Now I need to scan it and get it in a file and also to visit the family and get all their names and any neat quirks I can put in to make them interesting. My original family was Hispanic just out of having no model. Now, I have an Irish Catholic family and I know little about them. Inspiration has come!

I didn't quite get the title's connection to the story. The concept of how different beings relate to one another is a worthy subject of speculation. Looking at humankind, all of whom come from the same planet and seeing how badly we all get along, one wonders how beings from different galaxies and totally different species can coexist. An interesting subject.
